Benarrawa acknowledges the Yagarabul Peoples, the Traditional and Spiritual Custodians of Yagara (Yuggera) country. "Benarrawa" is a Yagara name for the waters and lands of Oxley Creek. Elders gave permission to use it upon incorporation in 1995.
